Month: December 2013

IF you can believe it . . .

Final drive by of the year. Yep, a quick, very quick drive by of a great friend saying hello. I am always up for a challenge. Thanks Sergio for being the LAST ONE of 2013. A bright bright light of positive energy, Sergio gave me a perfectly scandalous way of closing down the Harlem Studio for 2013. Yahooooooo!!!!

Bring it on 2014!!!!!

A bientôt 2013 . . .

(Ethan Robertson_A long time fave from Australia that I finally got to shoot.)

I had an awesome photographic year with many many highs and lows. Growth is/was key. However, after watching Shawshank Redemption about 10 times over Christmas on the Lifetime Network, this stuck with me:

“I guess it comes down to a simple choice really. Get busy living, or get busy dying.” (spoken by Tim Robbins to Morgan Freeman).

Nothing profound necessarily. But, just something to share.

Happy New Year. And, thanks to everyone who sat, drove by, sent models, called, emailed, texted, twitted or just sent work my way. It was much appreciated. On to the next, after brief reflection.
Happy New Year.

Editorial Feature: Perfect Company

Nothing like closing out the year with a solid editorial for Jon Magazine. I shot the ever dazzling Henry Rogers (One) for Jon Magazine’s themed Hollywood/Matinee Idol issue.

Impeccably styled by Ekaterina Razgonova (Eric Elenbaas Agency/Holland) and elegantly coiffured by Dhaniel Dhoud (Redken), Henry played out the role of a modern day Tab Hunter (google if you don’t know). Tab was the Golden Boy of old Hollywood. Just shiny and new. However, it was always rumored that Tab Hunter’s extraordinary blonde good looks is what led to his fame albeit by the old casting couch. I wanted to illustrate the “AFTER”. The “how whatever he did”  to get there might have looked. In a lush beautiful apartment with a sexual hint of what might have occurred when fame had sent in for him.

Thanks to my very good friend Rodrigo Otazu who allowed me to shoot in his home on a very early Sunday morning. And, of course, to Allen Osborne who sent Henry my way. And, not to be overlooked, thanks to Stephen Conway of Jon Mag. Thanks for allowing me to shoot as I see it.

Please check out more of the editorial by ordering the newest issue of Jon Mag here:  JON MAG (Issue Three)
